Rome 2013
We certainly picked the best season to visit Rome. The weather at the end of September was sunny and warm, but never too hot. Yes, a little rain did fall, but it only delayed our walking about the city for a short time. The end of October, when we returned from three weeks in Sicily was still beautiful. Our daughter Erica brought our two grandsons, Atticus and Roman, from Paris to join us for a weekend. Both visits we stayed in a Monastery that now offers rooms to tourists, regardless of their religious affiliation. In September we stayed near the Vatican, at Casa Mater Immaculata, and since we planned on visited the Coloseum with Erica and the boys, we stayed at Monasterio San Gregorio. Both monasteries provided clean, simple rooms with attached bathroom and were convenient to public transportation. We had an excellent tour of the Vatican, wandered the streets, visiting most of the top ten tourist attractions and enjoyed excellent food. It was an excellent trip.
