Ten Canadians, including Ray Burnham as leader, left Kathmandu on November 5,1999 for a nine day trek through the beautiful region of Gorkha. This area, west of Kathmandu on the way to Pokhara, is not often visited by trekkers. The terraced farm lands are dotted with prosperous villages and we had spectacular views of the Annapurna range and Manaslu. The trek route was no higher than 7,000 ft (2,150 m), so there were no altitude problems and the temperatures during the day were moderate. We ended our trek with a 3 day visit to Tiger Tops Jungle Lodge in the Royal Chitwan Park.
